Prof. Yamamoto Masayuki

Professor at Tohoku University, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) supervisor for Vice President of Space Medicine | Japan

Prof. Yamamoto specializes in Biochemistry and Oxygen Biology. He earned both MD and PhD from Tohoku University and completed postdoctoral training at Northwestern University. His academic career includes professorships at the University of Tsukuba and Tohoku University. He also served as Dean of the School of Medicine and Vice President of Tohoku University. Since 2012, he has led the Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization. In 2024, he became Scientific Director of Space Medicine Research at JAXA, focusing on advancing human health in space.
