Prof. Vladas Algirdas Bumelis

Founder and CEO of Northway Biotech | Lithuania

Prof. Vladas Algirdas Bumelis is the Founder and CEO of Northway Biotech, a biologics contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO). With extensive career in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, Prof. Bumelis has held key leadership roles, including General Manager of Sicor Biotech UAB (now part of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.), Chairman of the Board for biotech companies Biofa and Biotechna, and Chairman of the Board and General Manager at the Institute of Applied Enzymology in Lithuania. Prof. Bumelis holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Vilnius University. In 2024, he was honored with the Global Lithuania Award for positioning Lithuania as a global leader in biotechnology, with his pioneering work on the €7 billion Bio City project, which is set to become the largest biotechnology campus in Europe, further driving Lithuanian innovation onto the global stage.
