Associate Professor of Oncology at the University of Southern Switzerland, Head of the functional genomics program at the Institute of Oncology Research (IOR), and guest professor at the Department of Pathology, University Hospital Zurich | Switzerland
Dr. Jean-Philippe Paul Theurillat is an Associate Professor of Oncology at the University of Southern Switzerland, head of the functional genomics program at the Institute of Oncology Research (IOR), and guest professor at the Department of Pathology, University Hospital Zurich. During the last years, his lab has made important contributions towards the understanding of transcriptional changes related to prostate cancer progression and founder mutations and their contribution to tumorigenesis and responses to drug treatment.
In junction with his broad background in medicine, cancer biology and pharmaco-genomics represents a critical asset towards the successful implementations of the ambitious PCF Challenge Award project. He was initially trained as a pathologist and obtained thereafter his board certificate in surgical pathology. During his postdoctoral period, he trained in cell biology, cancer genomic, and experimental oncology at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) and later at the Broad Institute (of MIT & Harvard) and the Dana Faber Cancer Institute. Supported by a prestigious professorship grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation, he established his own research group and program at the Institute of Oncology Research in Southern Switzerland.
