Dr. Lukas Žemaitis

Dr. Lukas Žemaitis is a geneticist, innovator, and co-founder of the startup Genomika, developing DNA data storage technologies. He co-authored Himno DNR, which encoded the Lithuanian national anthem into DNA, and DNA Painting NR1, the first encoding of M. K. Čiurlionis’ artwork into DNA molecules. With over a decade of experience in molecular genetics, he published Lithuania’s first sequenced SARS-CoV-2 genome, coordinated national sequencing efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, and led the development of national sequencing infrastructure and novel epidemiological surveillance methods.
